Walk-in tubs and showers have become very popular. While there is really nothing with the current baths and tubs that we know of, there is a sizable section of the population that has a problem cannot use them like the rest of us do. Take senior citizens for instance. Many are afflicted with rheumatoid arthritis which is a crippling disease that causes the inflammation of joints and severely limits movement.
As modern medicine causes our lifespans to grow longer and longer, chances are good that each of us knows someone with limited mobility. My uncle had a stroke in 2001 which left him unable to walk. Throughout his illness, his wife and son have had to adapt to caring for him in almost every facet of his day-to-day life.
